In 1903, George “Stormy” Kromer—a semi-pro baseball player and railroad engineer— asked his wife, Ida, for a solution to the freezing wind stealing his cap as he navigated locomotives across the open prairies of the Midwest. Her solution was to hand-stitch the now-famous earflaps on one of Stormy’s old baseball caps. The hat stayed on. His head stayed warm. And a legend was born.

The now iconic Stormy Kromer comes with 100 years of craftsmanship and history built into its design. Each hat is sewn in Michigan, USA and is designed to beat the winter months whilst fitting snugly on your head. For extra ear warmth you just pull down on those classic flaps on either side when the hat is on your head - no need to untie fiddly strings.
The Rancher is a seriously warm cap for seriously cold conditions - over four times warmer than the Original. They make it with a premium wool/nylon blend, throw in 200g of extra high-tech insulation, before adding two extra inches of fleece-filled comfort on the earband to create the mother of all head protection systems.

Register the unique number sewn into the label of your hat and if your hat is stolen, lost or damaged within 3 years of the date of purchase, Stormy Kromer will replace your hat at 50% of the purchase price. No questions asked. In addition, if your hat ever wears out or there is a problem with the workmanship Stormy Kromer will replace it free of charge; a Lifetime Guarantee. You’ll never need to buy another winter hat again.
