British brand Bulldog Tools have been crafting strong, reliable gardening tools in Clarington Forge, Wigan since 1780. For over 200 years, they have been a trusted name among gardeners, farmers and professional landscapers worldwide, outlasting other tools in the shed and being passed down from one generation to another.

Their forged spades and forks are made from a single piece of metal and crafted from an extremely strong and durable steel. Manufacturing hasn’t changed much over the centuries and still involves heating newly pressed steel to 1,100 Celsius before being molded into shape by Bulldog craftspeople. While this manufacturing process may take more time, the end result is a gardening tool that is as resilient and strong as its company’s namesake.

This shrubbery spade may be the smallest of all Bulldog Tools’ spades, but it certainly packs a punch! Perfect for confined borders, the spade is fitted with a D-handle made out of extremely durable American and German FSC-certified ash that moulds to the gardener’s hand over time.
